Help help help my friend just confessed something horrible to me?

my friend just told me she takes pills to put her to sleep and numb her pain from reality she told me over a few gles of wine she also told me shes injested hundreds and hundreds of pills over the years i dont understand is she telling the truth if she is how come she hasnt had liver damage or her heart stopped or died from an overdose
