Is it normal to have pain with a trans l ultra sound?

I had an ultra sound today with this wand/probe like thing because i had very bad cramps before and after my last period which only lasted a day. I felt alot of pain during the procedure on my left side and it still hurts. All the things I have read online about this procedure say it is pain free only a little uncomfortable. Has any one else had pain from it?
