Before black/white marriage was legal, bigots said it would change the definition of marriage. Did it?

Yeah, but there are bigots for every age. It's endemic to a certain personality type. And you can't convince them by ogy. Sure, we can all generally agree, here in 2008, that there's nothing wrong with interracial marriage, even though exactly the same sorts of "Biblical" and alarmist arguments were used against it as we now see gay marriage opponents using. But they don't get the comparison, or they pretend not to get it, because they CHERISH their bigotry. It's far more important to them to be able to vent their petty hostilities on some "other" they've demonized for the purpose, and to exult in the consequent feeling of false moral superiority, than it is to admit that they're the latter-day equivalents of Klansmen.
