Can you insure a blackjack II?

i just bought a new phone (blackjack II) and the guy at the at&t store told me you couldnt insure them but inside the box there was a paper that said basically to call and insure the phone for like 5 dollars a month.... anyway i called and the girl confused me so i still have no clue does anyone out there know??
